Shell To Postpone Energy Projects In China
Friday, March 12th, 2010Royal Dutch Shell PLC is planning to postpone or drop some alternative energy projects in China. The current low oil price has made alternative energy costly. There were plans between China’s Shenhua Group and Shell, to produce liquid fuel from coal. The plant was supposed to come up in China’s Ningxia Region. However, Shell has announced that the plan has been postponed because of economic slowdown.Shenhua had been pursuing the liquid fuel plants on its own in the Mongolian region of China. These plans have also become unviable now. Shell said that coal gasification was a big business potential for it in China. Shell had reportedly struck deals for gasification with about 20 companies in China.
